Ahmad Amiri |
I joined the Microtribodynamics research group as a Ph.D. student in Spring 2020. My work focuses on fabricating miscellaneous advanced materials and their electrochemical and mechanical properties in different stretchable, bendable, and structural energy storage devices, such as multi-functional batteries and supercapacitors. Besides, I am working on Kirigami-based structure and the carbon overcoats of magnetic hard disks.

Louis Vaught |
Louis joined the research group as a Ph.D. candidate in the Spring of 2021. His research interests include additive manufacturing, polymer processing and process interactions, stochastic material behavior, engineered composites, and nonlinear optimization. He received his M.S. in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois in 2017 and his B.S. in Civil Engineering and Computational Science from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2015.

Ajinkya Raut |
Ajinkya completed his B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) from IIT Bombay, India in 2015. He worked as an R&D Developer in Dassault Systemes before joining Texas A&M University in 2019. His current research is testing the tribological behavior of materials and coatings for air-conditioning compressor applications..

Erfan Salehi |
As a Ph.D. student of mechanical engineering, I started this new journey to a deeper understanding of the world of mechanical engineering in the Spring of 2023. I completed my B.Sc. (2018) and M.Sc. (2021) programs at Shahrekord University (Iran) and the Sharif University of Technology (Iran), respectively. My main background knowledge covers fracture mechanics, fatigue, fretting fatigue, computational solid mechanics, and surface treatments. I am now working on polymers capable of reversible bond and debond.

Ayesha Asif |
I joined Professor Polycarpou’s research group in Spring 2019 as a Ph.D. student. I earned my bachelor’s in mechanical engineering in 2018 from Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. I have had the opportunity to pursue a variety of projects. Currently, I am involved in research regarding the effects of water-based lubricants on friction and wear reduction in Ferrous materials. These are environmentally friendly additives for application in the oil and gas industry. My research interests also include the nano-indentation behavior of polymeric coatings and the effect of substrate.

Seyed Borhan Mousavi |
Seyed Borhan Mousavi completed his Bachelor of Science (BSc) with honours in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tabriz, East Azerbaijan, Iran, in 2016. He continued his career in Chemical Engineering/Polymer and got a Master of Science (MSc) with honours from the University of Tabriz in 2019. He had been working as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada from 2020 to 2022. He joined the Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering as a Ph.D. student in January of 2023 and is presently working in the laboratory of Prof. Polycarpou.

Ronald Sellers |
I completed my BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Texas A&M in 2022. After having worked in Dr. Polycarpou’s lab as an undergraduate for a year, I joined as a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering in January 2023. My research focuses on additive manufacturing of polymeric coatings, tribology, and cryogenic testing. My background was in biomaterials and material applications but it has shifted towards advanced polymeric studies of wear and friction. A fun fact about me is that I used to love hiking and camping, with my favorite trip being a 50-mile high adventure in Mammoth Lakes, California. |
